- This folk art painted
tray has as subject matter of three Frontiersmen.
-
- One is carrying a
long rifle with belt pouch wearing a hat with feathers and early
garb, carrying game (rabbit) to the cooking fire.
-
- One is wearing a
coonskin hat tending the fire, and the third is wearing an animal
fur (bear skin) for warmth.
-
- Painted on the border
of the tray are crescent moons, a bull, a goat, a crab, a scorpion,
and star fish.
-
- There is some paint
loss just to the right of the camp fire and it does have some
minor scrapes and other areas of paint loss.
-
- There is no shine
to the paint and shows all the proper age that you like to see
in early paint.
-
- This tray is just
a fabulous piece of early American Folk Art.
